Top Notch Plumbing

The brief
Justin came to me for a logo. Backflow testing and prevention is Top Notch’s specialty, so he wanted the backflow symbol front and centre — recognisable on sight to anyone in the trade — with a leak motif worked in subtly, so the mark also says fast leak repair to everyone else.
Once the logo was approved, the conversation moved to the website. He needed a site that could bring in local calls and that his team could actually keep up to date.
The approach
I built the mark around the backflow device, kept the linework heavy enough to survive a truck vinyl and a shirt embroidery, and let the leak read as part of the composition rather than a bolt-on icon. Two forms, one silhouette.
The website came next: responsive layouts first, a CMS so the team can post without calling me, on-page SEO through the service pages, contact forms on every screen, social integration, and a blog for the long tail.
The result
Top Notch has a logo that works everywhere it lands and a website that answers the phone for them. The site is live and still theirs to run.

Before and after
The “before” is a recreation — the kind of do-it-yourself starter logo most small businesses launch with, not Top Notch’s actual old artwork. Drag the divider to see the difference a real mark makes.
